It's official! Microsoft has announced today that Xbox Live Gold is being replaced on September 14th with Xbox Game Pass Core, which will be available for £6.99 / $9.99 per-month or £49.99 / $59.99 per-year.

Xbox Game Pass Core will come with online multiplayer access, exclusive member deals and access to a selection of Xbox Game Pass games at launch, with more to be added around 2-3 times per-year.

Xbox Live Gold members will be converted to Xbox Game Pass Core on September 14th at no extra cost, while Xbox Games With Gold will come to an end a little earlier on September 1st. You'll still be able to access your GWG titles in the future, although anything from the Xbox One / Series X|S eras will also require you to be subscribed to Game Pass in order to play them.

Here's what Jerret West, CVP of Gaming Marketing at Xbox, had to say about today's announcement:

"Thank you to everyone who has been with us since the early days, joined along the way with friends, and now with us in Xbox Game Pass. I’m proud and humbled by the stories we hear about online teammates becoming real-life friends after years playing, or even marriages whose initial spark was ignited in a pre-match lobby. We can’t wait to hear more from the community when it launches on September 14, and we’ll see you online!"
